Having worked with choregrapher & technologist Johannes Birringer, her practice develops on his thoery of Metakimospheres; "kinetic atmospheres or environments staged for visitors that pass through them, listen to them and feel them". Kat's research into collective practice looks at activations of agency through the creation of what she calles 'landscapes of desire', spaces in which audiences are activated to participate by tapping into curosity, rather than artifically constructed rules and boundaries.

Working with choregrapher Zhi Xu, Kat began exploring work around identity, specifically the performativity of culture and gender. Through this she began exploring questions of authenticity as it relates to desire. What constructs of desire are perpetuate and exacerbated under capitalism? How can we cultivate a more honest relationship to our own desires? Through what methods can desire be encouraged rather than forced?

Recently, as an extention of Kat's early work and her research in collective practice and desire, she has been researching and making work around public space. Looking into how public space is defined and how it is used in contemporary cities. Particularly, Kat is interested in how space is governed and regulated by states and private companies to limit public freedoms. Her work focuses on methods of using sound to understand the relationship between people and public space through coding, field recording, sound editing, radio and methods of urban study.
Part of this has manifested in her work with radio broadcasting, exploring radiophonic soundscape through 'listening through the architecture' of a space.
